A Study on the Academic Supporting Program: Case Study of Academic Problems in Faculty of Education, Songkhla Rajabhat University

This experimental study was aimed to 1) compare the academic achievements of students with academic problems before and after participating in the Academic Supporting Program, and 2) investigate the students’ perceptions on the Academic Supporting Program. The participants in this study were 14 sophomores and juniors experiencing academic problems in the Faculty of Education, Songkhla Rajabhat University, who were selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments included 1) the Academic Supporting Program, and 2) a questionnaire to examine the students’ perceptions toward the Academic Supporting Program. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test. The findings revealed that, after participating in the Academic Supporting Program, academic achievement of the participants significantly increased at 0.001 significance level. Concerning the students’ perception, it was found that 1) the satisfaction with the program was good, and 2) the program was useful because it increased their academic achievements, built positive attitude toward studying, raised their self-esteem, enhanced positive behaviors, and improved relationship among peers.
