Comsumption Behaviour of Pesticide Residue Free
Vegetables : A Case Study of Tambon Donchedi,
Amphoe Phanom Thuan, Kanchanaburi.
The purposes of this research were 1) to study comsumption behavior of pesticide residue free vegetables among people who lived in Tambon Donchedi, Amphoe Phanom Thuan, Kanchanaburi, 2) to study factors that were related to pesticide residue free vegetables consumption behavior, and 3) to study suggestions to pesticide residue free vegetables consuming. The samples used in this study were 312 households in Tambon Donchedi, Amphur Phanomthuan, Kanchanaburi. A constructed questionnaire with the reliability of 0.80 was used as a tool to collect data. The statistics employed for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and chi-square test. The research results revealed that the pesticide residue free vegetables consumption behavior of the majority of the respondents were at a high level (54.49%). The testing results of the relationship between different factors and behavior of pesticide-residue free vegetable consumption of people revealed that educational level, income, knowledge, attitudes, the convenience of getting pesticide residue free vegetables, having enough equipments for decreasing toxins, receiving suggestions from their close ones were correlated to their consumption behavior of pesticide residue free vegetables with a statistical significance at 0.05 level. On the contrary, occupation and having or gain related information were not correlated to their consumption behavior of pesticide residue free vegetables with a statistical significance at 0.05 level. For suggestion, it was found that the government and related agencies should educate and disseminate information about pesticide residue free vegetables consumption to public. Farmers should grow vegetables without using chemicals and people should grow their own vegetables.
